Discover how Disney’s year-round festivals at Epcot and the vibrant food and cocktail scenes at Disney Springs can transform the typical theme park visit into an extraordinary adult adventure.

The guests that are visiting aren’t always with a family. We empty nesters love it too!

The first trip my husband and I took together without the kids was to Disney World! We had been going for years as a family and just wanted to take an anniversary trip with only us.

Unexpectedly, we found that it was a totally different experience as adults without kids to please and without having to plan for family activities.

Our trip was less stressful and we could do and see whatever we wanted!

We have been back many times since that first adult trip (usually for our anniversary week) and absolutely love it.

It’s also a great experience visiting with our now adult children who have now discovered the magic of an adult Disney trip. The whole dynamic has changed and it’s magical.

The Orlando fun goes beyond Disney World too! Check out our guide of free things to do in Orlando and we have compiled where you can find the best craft cocktails in Orlando!

Magic Kingdom

Magic Kingdom is often considered the most iconic of the Disney World parks. Here you can step into the heart of Disney magic at the crown jewel of Disney World.

The main attraction features the iconic Cinderella Castle and other classic attractions such as Pirates of the Caribbean and Space Mountain.

Adults will love the nostalgic charm of the park, as well as a variety of fun rides that bring out our inner child.

While Magic Kingdom is the most popular park and can get quite crowded, many adult visitors (like us) find it’s best to save this iconic experience for the climax of their trip, ensuring a grand finale to their Disney nostalgia adventure.

Some of our favorite must-do’s at Disney World

Enchanted Tiki Room – [Magic Kingdom]

This is my must-do because it is my favorite! When we went on family trips everyone would roll their eyes when I wanted to do this. Now I can see the show as many times as I want!

I love the birds singing and the whole tropical tiki feel (and air conditioning)! I even designed my patio at home to resemble parts of this tiki paradise.

Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind – [Epcot]

This newer coaster is a thrilling and smooth indoor coaster. You are on a mission to save the galaxy, with some cool music and twists and turns along the way.

We ride this several times during every trip!

It is what a coaster should be and has great music!

Tip: With just 2 adults it is worth it to purchase a lightning lane for this ride so you can ride it more than once without a wait!

Pirates of the Caribbean – [Magic Kingdom]

This classic boat ride takes you on a journey through a pirate’s life. It is complete with swashbuckling adventure and plenty of hijinks.

Epcot’s Int’l Flower and Garden Fest is on the top of our list for a couple’s trip!

Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival:

Held in the spring, usually from early March to early June, this festival is a feast for the eyes as well as the taste buds.

We love to marvel at the stunningly intricate flower topiaries and sculptures with expansive gardens that bring a burst of color to the park. The festival is not just about flora; it also offers a variety of outdoor kitchen kiosks featuring fresh, farm-to-table dishes and refreshing specialty craft cocktails. It’s the perfect setting for leisurely strolls or enjoying the outdoor concerts that bring the gardens to life. There are also numerous garden demonstrations and great information for the plant-lover!

Epcot International Festival of the Arts:

This festival is a celebration of visual, culinary, and performing arts, typically occurring from mid-January to late February. From witnessing incredible artistic talent in action to enjoying Broadway-caliber performances, the Festival of the Arts offers a cultured experience that is rarely found in theme parks.

Additionally, the food kiosks provide artistic dishes that are as beautiful as they are delicious, creating a multi-sensory experience that’s ideal for a sophisticated adult adventure.

A couple of artists that we used to work with present during this festival and absolutely love the experience.

5 Packing List Essentials for Your Adult Disney Getaway

  1. Comfortable Walking Shoes – Disney parks are huge, and you’ll be walking 8-10 miles a day without even realizing it. Make sure to pack comfortable, supportive shoes to prevent foot pain and blisters. Look for breathable sneakers or walking sandals with arch support that can handle a full day in the parks. Our comfy shoe pics are these comfortable Sketchers go-walk ones or our favorite Birkenstock Gizeh sandals from Amazon!
  2. Portable Phone Charger – Between taking photos, checking the My Disney Experience app, and mobile ordering food, your phone battery will drain quickly. Bring a portable phone fast charger (amazon has this great inexpensive one) to ensure you stay connected and don’t miss out on capturing magical moments.
  3. Refillable Water Bottle – Staying hydrated is key, especially in the Florida heat. Pack a refillable water bottle that’s lightweight and will keep you hydrated by using Disney’s water stations all day. There are free water refill stations throughout the parks, so you won’t need to buy bottled water. Check out this inexpensive collapsible water bottle 2 pack on Amazon!
  4. Travel-Sized Cooling Towel – The Florida sun can be intense, even in cooler months. A cooling towel can help keep you refreshed during those long park days. Just wet it, wring it out, and drape it around your neck for an instant cool-down. This budget-friendly 4-pack travel cooling towel set on Amazon can be clipped onto a bag or belt loop!
  5. Lightweight Backpack – A comfortable, lightweight backpack is essential for carrying all your park essentials without feeling weighed down. Check out this budget-friendly packable lightweight backpack with pockets on Amazon!
