Le Café Louis Vuitton NYC Review: Is It Worth It?

Last updated: May 11, 2026

New York city Le Cafe Louis Vuitton restaurant review

We detail our lunch experience with a review of Le Café Louis Vuitton in New York City to help you plan. I’ll be honest: I expected Le Café Louis Vuitton to be one of those places that looked beautiful online but felt a little overrated once we got there. I watched all of the influencer reels before and pictured a very pretty, very expensive lunch where the branding might be more memorable than the food. Well, I’ll admit it: I was so wrong!

We unexpectedly loved Le Café Louis Vuitton.

During our New York City trip, we were staying nearby at Hotel Edison near Broadway, and had already planned a lunch visit to Le Café Louis Vuitton with pretty high expectations. We were unsure if it was worth it. It is definitely a splurge, but it ended up being one of our favorite meals of the trip.

The setting was gorgeous, the service felt polished without being stuffy, and the food was honestly much better than I expected. And yes, we are still talking about the potatoes.

So, is Louis Vuitton Cafe worth it? For us, absolutely; especially if you love unique New York City dining experiences, luxury shopping, or a meal that feels like part lunch, part travel memory.

A Little Background on Le Café Louis Vuitton

Le Café Louis Vuitton in New York City is part of Louis Vuitton’s growing move into luxury dining and lifestyle experiences, where the brand blends fashion, art, books, chocolate, and beautifully plated food into one posh setting. The NYC café opened inside the Louis Vuitton 57th Street store and is described by Louis Vuitton as the Maison’s first library café in the United States. While Louis Vuitton has a small but growing collection of café and restaurant concepts around the world, the New York café still feels like a rare experience rather than a typical chain restaurant. That exclusivity is part of what made us curious to try it in the first place.

How Do You Make a Reservation at Le Café Louis Vuitton NYC?

Reservations are handled through Resy, and Le Café Louis Vuitton reservations drop 28 days in advance at midnight

For our visit, I patiently waited until just after midnight Eastern time exactly 28 days before the date we wanted. I also used Global Access through my Bonvoy Brilliant credit card, which helped me watch for availability and jump on the reservation as soon as slots opened.

I’m so glad I waited up to book it. Within just a few minutes, the available times filled quickly. This is one of those NYC reservations where it really does matter to make the reservation as soon as the booking window opens.

A credit card was required to hold the reservation. Since we were still finalizing our New York City itinerary, I actually made two different reservations just in case our plans shifted. Once we knew which time worked best, I canceled the extra one and kept the reservation that fit our schedule. In hindsight, I kind of wish I’d kept the second one to experience it again at breakfast to compare.

They do take limited walk-ups for the bar seating area but it is a very small area and would be difficult, but not impossible. We did see 2 small parties being turned away for not reservations though while we were checking in.

Arriving at the Louis Vuitton Store:

We arrived a few minutes early because we wanted time to look around the store before lunch. If you love luxury shopping, fashion, or just over-the-top NYC retail spaces, you will probably enjoy arriving early too. Each section is unique!

The store itself is beautiful and multi-level, with dramatic displays and huge luggage-inspired towers in the center. Across the street, they were doing construction on the massive luggage-looking Louis Vuitton building, which was such a fun thing to see in person.

You actually enter across from the giant suitcase-style building, then head inside the Louis Vuitton store.

Once we told the staff we had lunch reservations, they directed us to the fourth floor. Of course, we took our time looking at the displays on the way up because the whole store feels like part of the experience.

Checking In at Le Café Louis Vuitton:

When we reached the fourth floor, we found the café check-in desk near a small entrance door. There is also a chocolate counter on the same level, which is fun to browse if you arrive early or want a small takeaway treat.

We gave our names at the check-in desk, waited just a minute, and then were led through the café to our table.

The restaurant is not huge, but it feels comfortable and well-designed. There is bar seating and regular table seating with comfortable chairs. The tables were spaced nicely, so even though the restaurant was full when we arrived, it did not feel cramped.

One of the most memorable design details was the unique art installation hanging from the ceiling made of hundreds of luggage tags. It was playful, beautiful, and very Louis Vuitton without feeling too cheesy.

The decor had warm tones, and the whole space felt upscale but not intimidating. It was very comfortable.

What Should You Wear to Louis Vuitton Cafe NYC?

The vibe at Le Café Louis Vuitton is dressy casual.

You do not need to wear formal clothing, but I would skip super casual outfits like workout clothes or beachy tourist attire. Think polished New York lunch outfit, stylish travel outfit, or something you would wear for a nice lunch followed by luxury shopping.

We saw a mix of guests dressed nicely, including people who looked like they were celebrating special occasions. We were also surprised to see a few tables with children, including what looked like tea party-style birthday celebrations.

So while it definitely feels upscale, it is not adults-only or overly stiff. The feel is warm and comforting.

What We Ordered at Le Café Louis Vuitton

food at louis vuitton cafe new york city lunch review

Once we were seated in our comfy chairs, we were greeted by our server and given menus for food and drinks.

Since there were three of us, we decided to order several small plates and share everything. That ended up being the perfect way to try more of the menu without committing to just one dish each.

We ordered:

  • Monogram Ravioli
  • Lobster rolls – Fifth Avenue
  • Sliders 1898
  • Pomme Mousseline Louis Vuitton – signature truffle mashed potatoes
  • Broccolini side

For drinks, we ordered:

  • Iced latte
  • Signature Cadillac margarita x 2
  • Cocopolitan

We loved the cocktails and drinks, especially the Cocopolitan. And yes, the branding was everywhere in the best way and made it unique. It felt elevated, fun, and very on-theme.

We love experiencing all of the foodie places that we can in a city! Check out our other favorite restaurants in New York guide.

What We Thought About the Food

the monogram ravioli at Le Cafe Louis Vuitton NYC was it worth it

This is where Le Café Louis Vuitton surprised us the most.

I expected the food to be good enough, but maybe not memorable enough to justify the price.

Instead, almost everything was excellent.

We also loved the signature logo branding on every dish, even the butter! It was over the top, but amazing. I even saved my “Louis Vuitton” branded orange slice from the Cadillac Margarita!

The clear winner was the Pomme Mousseline Louis Vuitton, the signature potato side. I cannot overstate how much we loved this dish. It was creamy, rich, had crunchy bits, was beautifully presented, and somehow it’s the dish we kept talking about long after lunch was over.

The burger sliders were also amazing. They were juicy, flavorful, and much better than I expected for a small plate at a luxury café.

The ravioli was another favorite. It felt delicate, rich, and perfectly done.

The broccolini was also a hit at our table, which says a lot because vegetable sides can sometimes feel like an afterthought. This one did not.

The only dish we would probably skip next time was the lobster rolls. They were fine and still good, but compared with everything else we ordered, they were the least exciting. They just did not stand out the way the potatoes, sliders, and ravioli did.

Overall, the food was way above our expectations.

What Did Le Café Louis Vuitton Cost?

Our total for three people, including food, 3 cocktails, beverages, tax, and tip, was $396.15.

That came out to approximately $132 per person with cocktails included.

Was it expensive for lunch? Yes.

Was it as expensive as I expected? Surprisingly, no.

For such an upscale New York City experience, especially one inside Louis Vuitton with cocktails and multiple shared plates, the price felt high but not shocking. It is not an everyday lunch by any means, but for a special NYC experience, we felt like it was worth it.

You could also spend less if you skipped cocktails or ordered fewer shared dishes.

Is Louis Vuitton Cafe Worth It?

For us, yes indeed, Le Café Louis Vuitton was absolutely worth it.

I went in thinking it might be more about the name than the food, but the whole experience exceeded our expectations. The space was beautiful, the service was smooth, the food was genuinely delicious. It felt like a unique New York City memory rather than just another lunch and we are still talking about it!

It is pricey, so I would not recommend it if you are only looking for a budget value meal in Midtown. If you want a special dining experience, however, love Louis Vuitton, enjoy luxury shopping, or want something memorable to add to your New York City itinerary, I think it is absolutely worth considering.

The fact that we are already planning on going back says a lot.

Would We Go Again?

Yes, yes, yes, without hesitation!

We are already planning another New York City trip, and Le Café Louis Vuitton is back on our list. Next time, we may try dinner instead of lunch just to get a different perspective.

But no matter when we go, we are ordering those potatoes again.

What Is Nearby?

Le Café Louis Vuitton is in a great Midtown location, especially if you are planning a luxury window shopping day or staying near Times Square, Rockefeller Center, Central Park, or Fifth Avenue. *The Tiffany Landmark Store is right next door!

We walked there from our hotel, Hotel Edison, with no trouble. It made for a very easy lunch during our New York City trip.

There is also plenty of luxury shopping nearby, so you could easily pair lunch with browsing Louis Vuitton, Tiffany & Co. Landmark Store, Dior, Chanel, Bergdorf Goodman, or other Fifth Avenue and 57th Street shops.

This would also be a fun addition to a girls’ trip, birthday weekend, mother-daughter trip, romantic NYC getaway, or stylish New York itinerary. (See our Iconic New York Landmarks guide and Itinerary)
