Celebrity Reflection 3-Night Cruise Review: Is It Worth It?

Before taking our first Celebrity cruise, several friends warned us that Celebrity Cruises might feel boring, overly formal, or designed mainly for older travelers. After spending three nights aboard Celebrity Reflection, we can confidently say that was not our experience at all.

Our group ranged in age from the late 20s through the 50s, and everyone found something to love. The ship felt sophisticated and relaxing without being stuffy, and there was plenty of live music, entertainment, great food, and energy throughout the cruise. We all agreed that we loved this ship.

Our three-night Celebrity Reflection cruise sailed round-trip from Fort Lauderdale with stops in Key West and Nassau. It was a short itinerary, but it gave us enough time to experience the ship, try several dining options, visit two ports, and decide whether we would sail with Celebrity again. Spoiler alert: We absolutely would!

Since this was our first time sailing with Celebrity Cruises, we were also excited to see how it compared to the Royal Caribbean cruises we had taken in the past. Celebrity is Royal Caribbean Group’s premium cruise line, so we expected the experience to feel a little more elevated. Our Royal Caribbean loyalty status also matched over to Celebrity’s Captain’s Club program, which was a nice bonus.

So, was our short Celebrity Reflection cruise worth it?

Celebrity Reflection Cruise at a Glance

Here is our honest review of embarkation, the ship, our balcony cabin, the food, entertainment, Key West, Nassau, and everything that surprised us along the way.

Our Embarkation in Fort Lauderdale

Embarkation was almost unbelievably easy. We parked at the Palm Garage just across from Terminal 25, where the ship was docked at Port Everglades. The cost was $20.00/day.

We chose a later arrival time of 1:30 p.m., which ended up working perfectly for us. Before the cruise, Celebrity had us verify our photos and set up our onboard accounts during the online check-in process.

By the time we arrived at the port, almost everything had already been completed. We even pre-watched the muster safety video so all we had to do is check in at our station once boarded.

We went through security and basically walked right onto the ship. There were no long lines, no confusing paperwork, and very little waiting around.

Our rooms were ready by approximately 2 p.m., but our boarding information said we could drop off our carry-on bags at the cabin even if it was not completely ready. We left our bags in the room and headed straight to the buffet for lunch before exploring the ship.

After experiencing embarkation on several cruise lines, this was definitely one of the smoothest boarding processes we have had.

Exploring Celebrity Reflection

The ship was much more beautiful than we expected.

We thought it had a sophisticated and modern feel, but it is still comfortable and welcoming. Instead of being filled with giant slides or flashy attractions, it has interesting artwork, cozy spaces, beautiful lounges, and little details that make you want to walk around and explore.

It seemed like almost every floor had something special to discover.

Public Areas and Artwork

One of the first things that caught our attention was the artwork throughout the ship.

The centerpiece is the unusual Reflection Atrium Tree by artist Bert Rodriguez. The living tree is suspended inside a large metal structure high above the atrium, and it immediately becomes one of those things you stop to look at every time you pass through.

There are also sculptures, paintings, and modern art installations throughout Celebrity Reflection. They give the ship a gallery-like feel without making it seem too formal.

We also loved discovering spaces like The Hideaway (above) and the multi-level library.

The Library overlooks the surrounding decks and is one of those quiet places where we could imagine spending an afternoon on a longer cruise, but we didn’t have enough time on this sailing. The Hideaway had comfortable, unique seating and felt tucked away from some of the busier areas.

The Pools and Outdoor Areas

The main outdoor pool deck had a nicely sized pool and plenty of loungers.

However, our favorite was the glass-enclosed Solarium (above). We kept calling it the atrium pool because of the beautiful glass roof, but Celebrity officially calls this adults-only area the Solarium.

It was bright, peaceful, and not nearly as crowded as we expected. There was a pool, hot tubs, and plenty of comfortable places to relax.

The nearby Spa Café also made this one of our favorite areas to visit during the morning or around lunchtime.

We only walked through the sports deck once, but it looked like a pickleball court had been set up over the basketball court during our cruise.

One of the most unique features on Celebrity Reflection is the Lawn Club (pictured earlier) on the top deck. This is not artificial turf. It is an actual lawn with real grass at sea.

After lunch on embarkation day, we went up to the Lawn Club and stopped at the Sunset Bar. We never managed to make it back at the exact time of sunset, but it would be one of our first choices for watching the sun go down on a future cruise.

The combination of the real grass, open ocean views, and relaxed outdoor seating made this area feel completely different from the traditional pool deck.

Our Celebrity Reflection Balcony Cabin Review

We stayed in balcony cabin 8192, and it had more than enough space for the two of us. It actually felt really large for a regular cabin.

There were plenty of cabinets, drawers, and storage areas for our clothes and other belongings. Since this was only a three-night cruise, we did not completely unpack or organize everything the way we normally would on a longer trip.

Still, we felt like the cabin would have had enough storage for a much longer sailing. One unique thing Celebrity Reflection does is that instead of towel animals we had chocolates on the pillows in the evenings which we loved!

The bed was comfortable, and we enjoyed having a large balcony where we could step outside and look at the water.

The bathroom was also better designed than some cruise bathrooms we have experienced. The shower had actual glass doors instead of a curtain, which meant we did not end up with water all over the bathroom floor.

Our only small complaint was the lack of outlets.

Like many cruise cabins, it never seemed like there were enough convenient outlets for phones, cameras, watches, and other devices. A cruise-approved multi-charging hub [Amazon] can be helpful, but always check the cruise line’s current rules before packing any kind of power strip. We forgot to bring ours.

Overall, the cabin was comfortable, functional, and more than roomy enough for our short cruise.

Food and Specialty Dining on Celebrity Reflection

Food was definitely one of the highlights of our Celebrity Reflection cruise.

We ate in the main dining room, Tuscan Grille, Le Petit Chef, the Oceanview Café buffet, the Spa Café, and Café al Bacio.

Because the cruise was so short, we could not try every restaurant on the ship, but the meals we did experience ranged from good to unforgettable.

Main Dining Room

We had dinner in the main dining room on our first night, and everyone in our group agreed that the food was above average.

The dining room felt elegant, but not so formal that we were uncomfortable. The service was attentive, and the meal gave us a great first impression of Celebrity’s included dining.

We have eaten in plenty of cruise ship main dining rooms, and this one felt a little more refined than what we have experienced on several mainstream cruise lines.

Tuscan Grille

Tuscan Grille was definitely one of the best meals of our cruise.

Actually, our whole group agreed that it was one of the best meals we have had on any cruise.

Tuscan Grille is a specialty restaurant serving Italian-inspired dishes and steakhouse favorites. The food, presentation, atmosphere, and service were all excellent.

The ship was running a special so we were able to enjoy Tuscan Grille for half off that night (about $25) so it was definitely worth it!

We would give it a full 10 out of 10 and would definitely book it again.

Le Petit Chef Dinner Show

Another specialty dining experience we tried was Le Petit Chef, and it was unlike any other dinner we have experienced on a cruise.

Before each course, an animated story was projected directly onto our table and place settings. The tiny chef appeared to run around the table gathering ingredients and “cooking” our meal.

Once the animated chef finished preparing the virtual dish, the servers brought out the real version for us to eat.

The animation, music, timing, and food were all coordinated so that the meal felt like part dinner and part show.

It was fun, creative, and completely different from a traditional specialty restaurant. Even though it is sometimes described as a dinner show, it is more intimate than a large theater production because all of the action happens right on your table. We did think it was a little cheesy at first and more for kids, but we all wound up really enjoying it. We also thought the food was really good. The price per person on our cruise was $55.00 (price and discounts vary).

Would we do it again? Possibly, if there is a different theme than what we had since we already experienced that one.

Café al Bacio

We started a couple of our mornings at Café al Bacio, and it became one of our favorite places to meet up on the ship.

There was something so relaxing about sitting down with a cappuccino and a biscotti and people watching before heading out for the day.

The cappuccinos were excellent, and the café had a display filled with pastries and sweets. We tried the biscotti, Nutella croissants, and a few other pastries during the cruise.

The specialty coffee drinks cost extra if they are not covered by your beverage package, but the pastries and sweets were complimentary during our sailing.

We loved the European café atmosphere vibe and would definitely spend more time here on a longer Celebrity cruise. It was a much calmer way to start the morning than heading straight to the busy buffet. You also don’t have to wait in line at the counter because there are more than enough servers who come to the table once you sit down.

Oceanview Café Buffet

We visited the Oceanview Café buffet for lunch after boarding. It was chaotic like most first-day buffets are on a cruise.

It was not our favorite dining spot, but we should mention that we are not usually big buffet people on any cruise line. There were plenty of choices, but we preferred the atmosphere and food in the ship’s other restaurants.

One thing we did love at the buffet was the gelato and soft-serve ice cream counter. That became our favorite little treat during the cruise.

Note: The soft-serve is complimentary at Oceanview Cafe and Mast Grill on the pool deck, but gelato costs 4.50 (at least it did on our sailing).

Spa Café

For brunch/lunch, we also tried the Spa Café near the Solarium.

This was another great discovery.

The café had lighter breakfast and lunch options, along with fresh juices and smoothies. Everything we tried tasted fresh, and it was a nice alternative to navigating the larger buffet.

We especially loved the juices and smoothies (covered by our beverage package).

Its location near the Solarium also made it convenient to grab something before relaxing by the indoor pool.

Bars and Live Music we tried on Celebrity Reflection

After unpacking and taking a short break in our cabin, we got ready for dinner and headed back out to explore the ship’s bars and lounges.

There was live music in the atrium, as well as a solo singer performing in the Ensemble Lounge (our favorite live music spot).

We sat in the Ensemble Lounge for a while and listened to the music before eventually finding our favorite bar on the ship: the Martini Bar.

We also tried the World Class Lounge on embarkation day and the drinks were nice but expensive if you don’t have a drink package.

Martini Bar & Crush

The Martini Bar was one of the most fun places on Celebrity Reflection.

The top of the bar is covered in ice, which is such a unique detail. You can set your drink directly on the frozen surface while watching the bartenders work or draw cute shapes in the ice.

We also caught the Martini Bar bartender show, and it was excellent.

The bartenders performed an energetic drink-pouring routine that definitely drew a crowd. It was fun to watch, and the atmosphere around the bar was lively every time we stopped by.

The Martini Bar ended up becoming our group’s regular night meeting spot.

It was social and energetic without turning into a loud nightclub, which was perfect for our mixed-age group.

This bar alone made us question why anyone had told us Celebrity was boring because it was so much fun. The drinks were also great!

Entertainment on Celebrity Reflection

Most of the entertainment during our cruise centered around live music, lounge singers, scheduled activities, and theater shows.

There was a show in the theater each night and different times. We attended the late show on the first night, and the singers were very talented.

It was not the same type of Broadway-caliber production you might see on one of the newest mega-ships, but we still enjoyed it a lot. The theater was comfortable, and it was a nice way to spend part of the night after dinner.

One night, Celebrity also held a silent disco in the atrium.

Guests wore headphones and could switch between different music channels while dancing. We watched from one of the decks above, and honestly, watching everyone dance to completely different songs was the best entertainment 😆.

Our favorite entertainment was still the live music.

We listened to several singers and musicians throughout the cruise, and everyone we heard was talented. Sitting in a comfortable lounge with a drink and listening to live music matched the sophisticated atmosphere of Celebrity Reflection perfectly.

There were probably many other activities that we simply did not have time to attend. With two ports packed into a three-night cruise, we tried to fit in as much as possible.

At no point were we bored.

Is Celebrity Cruises Only for Older People?

This was one of our biggest questions before the trip.

Friends had warned us that Celebrity Cruises was mostly for older travelers and that there might not be much to do at night.

That did not match our experience. We loved the whole cruise experience and we have been on over 50 cruises between us!

Our group included people in their late 20s, 30s, 40s, and 50s, and everyone enjoyed the cruise.

Celebrity Reflection did feel calmer and more sophisticated than a party-focused ship. We did not see constant pool contests, giant waterslides, or an amusement-park atmosphere.

However, calmer does not mean boring.

There was live music throughout the ship, theater entertainment, a silent disco and other dance nights, busy lounges, specialty dining experiences, fun bartenders, pools, and plenty of places to socialize or just hang out.

We think Celebrity is especially well-suited to couples, groups of adult friends, and empty nesters who enjoy good food, live music, and attractive surroundings.

There are also children’s and teen clubs onboard, although we did not see a large number of children during our particular cruise. It could be because it was such a short itinerary.

Families can still definitely have fun sailing on Celebrity, but the overall experience did not feel as focused on children as some of the larger family-oriented cruise ships with all of the kid-focused bells and whistles.

Our Celebrity Reflection Port Experiences

Our short itinerary included two port days: Key West and Nassau.

We already knew Key West very well, but our previous experience in Nassau had not been a positive one. Both stops gave us something different to look forward to.

Key West

Anyone who has read our other Florida Keys guides probably already understands how much we love Key West.

Visiting Key West during a cruise is a much more rushed experience than staying for several days, but we were determined to fit in as many of our favorite places as possible.(See our Key West in one day itinerary guide)

We were in port from approximately 8:30 a.m. until the 3:30 p.m. all-aboard time.

That was much shorter than we would have liked, especially in a destination with so much to see and do. (we started with the Best key lime pie in Key West for breakfast)

To make the most of our time, we rented a six-passenger electric cart. (you could also use the Old Town Trolley if you don’t want to deal with parking)

That ended up being one of the best decisions we made. It was extremely hot, and we never would have covered as much ground if we had tried to walk everywhere. We booked it online the day before to make sure we had one at a good price and walked over to the shop close to port.

The electric cart allowed all six of us to move around the island together and revisit several of our favorite Key West spots before heading back to the ship.

There was no significant line getting off the ship, and returning was just as easy. Key West is really just an easy port.

One detail we really appreciated was that Celebrity crew members were handing out frozen face towels when we returned. We really needed a cool-down and appreciated them so much! They did the same thing when we returned from Nassau, and it was one of those small service touches that made Celebrity feel a little more elevated.

Nassau, Bahamas

Nassau was probably the biggest happy surprise of our cruise.

We had visited many years ago and did not enjoy the port at all. Because of that experience, Nassau was not the stop we were most excited about before this trip.

However, the cruise port has been rebuilt and expanded since our last visit, and our experience this time was completely different.

The newer port area was attractive, organized, and much easier to navigate. We also felt comfortable and safe during our day there.

We booked a walking city tour excursion that cost approximately $50 per person, and it was the perfect way to see more of Nassau beyond the immediate port area.

The tour took us to the Queen’s Staircase, some of the colorful neighborhoods, and the pastel-colored government buildings.

Walking with a guide helped us learn more about what we were seeing while still giving us enough time to enjoy the city without being hounded.

Of course, we also had to stop for an original rum cake from the factory.

After that, we enjoyed a nice lunch at a port restaurant before returning to the ship.

Note: Many people who come to Nassau on a cruise opt for a resort day pass and that is also a great option and often includes extras! The ship also had a day pass to Royal Caribbean’s own private island, but our group wanted to tour the city instead.

This visit completely changed our opinion of Nassau. Instead of treating it like a port where we might stay onboard, we would happily get off the ship and explore again.

And once again, the frozen towels waiting for us when we returned were greatly appreciated after walking around in the heat.

Debarkation from Celebrity Reflection

Debarkation was just as easy and organized as embarkation.

Since it was such a short cruise, packing did not take long. We followed the self-assist departure instructions, left the ship, and made our way through the terminal without any major delays or confusion.

No one enjoys the end of a cruise, but Celebrity made the process as painless as possible.

How Much Did Our Celebrity Reflection Short Cruise Cost?

Our three-night Celebrity Reflection cruise cost approximately $648 based on double occupancy for our balcony cabin.

Our Nassau walking tour cost approximately $50 per person.

Specialty dining at Tuscan Grille and Le Petit Chef was an additional expense. Specialty coffee drinks at Café al Bacio were also extra unless they were covered by a drink package (we had a drink package), although the pastries and sweets were complimentary.

Cruise fares can be displayed in different ways, so always check whether the price you are seeing includes taxes, port fees, gratuities, travel insurance, drinks, Wi-Fi, excursions, and other extras.

Prices also change based on demand, travel dates, cabin category, promotions, and how early you book.

Even with the additional onboard expenses, we felt our fare offered good value for a balcony cabin, two port stops, entertainment, included dining, and the overall quality of the ship.

Was Our Three-Night Celebrity Reflection Cruise Worth It?

Yes, we absolutely and honestly thought our Celebrity Reflection cruise was worth it. It was the perfect mini-vacation because the cruise left on a Friday and came back on a Monday.

The ship was more beautiful and sophisticated than we expected, embarkation was exceptionally easy, and our balcony cabin was comfortable.

The food ranged from above average to excellent. Tuscan Grille was a 10-out-of-10 meal, while Le Petit Chef gave us one of the most unusual dining experiences we have had at sea.

We loved starting our mornings with cappuccinos and pastries at Café al Bacio, relaxing in the Solarium, listening to live music, and meeting up at the Martini Bar.

✨Most importantly, we were never bored.

Our only real complaint was that three nights went by much too quickly. We all wished we had a few more days.

With a port stop on both full days, there was barely enough time to explore all of the ship’s restaurants, lounges, pools, and entertainment.

This cruise was a great introduction to Celebrity, and perfect for an extended weekend trip, but we would choose a longer itinerary next time to experience even more.

Who Would Enjoy Sailing on Celebrity Reflection?

We think Celebrity Reflection would be a great choice for:

• Couples looking for a relaxing getaway
• Empty nesters who enjoy dining and live music
• Groups of adult friends traveling together
• Royal Caribbean cruisers who are curious about Celebrity
• Travelers who prefer sophisticated design over thrill attractions
• Food lovers interested in specialty dining
• First-time Celebrity cruisers who want to try a short sailing
• Adults who enjoy a lively evening without a nonstop party scene

The cruisers in their 20s in our group enjoyed the cruise just as much as those in their 40s and 50s so it is really fun for all ages.

Those who want giant waterslides, surf simulators, or a heavily family-focused experience may be happier on one of Royal Caribbean’s larger ships.

However, anyone who prioritizes dining, live music, good service, comfortable lounges, and a more polished environment may really enjoy Celebrity Reflection like we did.

Final Thoughts on our Celebrity Reflection Review

Celebrity Reflection exceeded our expectations.

We boarded thinking the experience might feel too quiet or geared toward a much older crowd. Instead, we found a beautiful ship with excellent dining, talented musicians, fun bars, relaxing pools, interesting artwork, and plenty to do in the evenings.

The atmosphere was more refined than a typical party cruise, but it never felt stuffy or dull. Our whole group had a great time and we are ready to book again.

The entire cruise felt like it passed much too quickly, but we enjoyed every minute. We would absolutely sail on Celebrity Reflection again.
