Waking up early to an amazing sunrise on vacation has some wonderful benefits and is a great reason to be an “early bird”. I admit to being an “early-riser” and catching the sunrise is one part of vacation that I try to always make time for. I especially love watching the sunrise on a beach vacation or cruise. There is something about the vibrant pinks and lavenders giving way to the fiery orange light rising from the water that really sets everything right with the day for me.
Benefits of Watching the Sunrise
Watching the sunrise is not just relaxing, it’s also good for us according to scientific studies. A Science Daily article detailing research on the benefits described how the light from watching a sunrise is thought to help in regulating our circadian internal clocks and has positive effects on mood. Sunlight is also great for production of vitamin D3. The light intensity is also lower at sunrise and sunset so overexposure is not at the same levels that it would be at midday.
So, enjoying a sunrise is not just beautiful; it’s a vacation ritual that can make us happier and healthier. If you are not a “morning person” and would rather sleep in don’t worry, there are also similar benefits watching the sunset.
